Mr. Mathur, a Hotel Management Guru and a father figure of the Industry, holds a 3-year Diploma in Hotel Management Catering & Nutrition from Pusa, New Delhi. To make his dream a reality, started career in the early 70’s as a Kitchen Management Trainee, in Hotel Oberoi Intercontinental, New Delhi. He was appointed as a demonstrator for 2 years in the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering & Nutrition at Pusa, New Delhi. In 1977 joined the Taj group of Hotels at the Corporate Office in Mumbai as a Training Manager for 8 long years. While at Taj, in 1979 he did the Teachers’ Training Course from the Institute of Hotel Management & Tourism, Austria, to enhance skills.
In, 1985 he got appointed as Vice President Operations, at the Raheja Group of Hotels. He is also credited for training the Staff of various Business & Star Hotels like The Leela, Mumbai, Sun & Sand, Holiday Inn, The Club etc. Apart from this, was also involved and responsible for the entire Kitchen, Food & Beverages Facilities, Design, Renovation etc. of the Hyatt, Yak & Yeti, Grand Hyatt, Ramada (Goa, Hyderabad & Mumbai), Surya Best Western, Lotus Suites, etc.
Apart from running his own company, in 2004 Mr. Mathur was designated as the C.E.O. of Tunga Group of Hotels. With his appointment a new success chapter was written at The Tunga Group. He has not only been responsible for the increased revenue of The Tunga, but also taken its dreams of expansion Sky-High.
